Bourne Westfield Primary Academy Coding & STEM Holiday Clubs

Discover a high‑quality holiday club in Bourne designed for curious, capable young learners. At Bourne Westfield Primary Academy, Young Innovators Club® delivers structured STEM sessions that go beyond entertainment, helping children develop logical thinking, resilience, and a genuine understanding of how technology works.

Across each holiday programme, children take on carefully designed challenges in coding, robotics, and engineering. From building functioning prototypes to developing their own interactive projects, every activity is created to stretch thinking and encourage independent problem‑solving. It’s an ideal environment for children who enjoy a challenge and want to deepen their skills in a supportive setting.

We keep group sizes small to ensure focused guidance and meaningful progress. This allows every child to receive individual support, refine their ideas, and produce work they’re proud of, whether that’s coding a game, engineering a solution, or exploring more advanced STEM concepts alongside like‑minded peers.

Game design and coding

At our Bourne Westfield Primary Academy holiday club, children develop their coding skills through a blend of guided instruction and creative exploration. Using platforms such as Scratch and Delightex, alongside hands‑on work with micro:bits and MakeCode Arcade consoles, they experience both screen‑based programming and physical computing.

Sessions begin with clear, structured teaching to introduce key concepts and techniques. Children then build on these foundations by adapting and extending their projects, whether that’s refining a game, programming a micro:bit device, or creating their own arcade-style experiences. This balance of support and independence helps children not only follow and understand code, but also apply it in new ways.

Programming Robots

At our Bourne Westfield Primary Academy holiday club, children gain hands‑on experience designing, building, and programming their own robotic creations. Alongside traditional robot builds, they’ll also explore physical computing with micro:bits and even experiment with the Elecfreaks AI Lens, bringing an exciting introduction to real‑world AI technology.

For those ready to go further, there are opportunities to take greater creative control, developing original designs, experimenting with AI features, and refining their own robotic projects.

3D printing and Engineering

At our Bourne Westfield Primary Academy holiday club, children take part in a range of hands‑on engineering projects, from designing and 3D‑printing their own creations in TinkerCAD to building working models such as pinball machines, table football games, and other interactive prototypes.

These practical sessions give children the chance to plan, build, test, and refine their ideas, combining digital design with real‑world construction. Whether they’re creating something on screen or assembling physical components, they’ll experience the full engineering process from concept to finished product.
Led by experienced teachers, activities are carefully structured to be accessible, engaging, and rewarding for all ability levels, helping every child build confidence, develop practical skills, and take home something they’re genuinely proud of.
