Young Innovators Club® – Inspiring Kids Through STEM & Problem-Based Learning

Fun, Educational Activities & Clubs for Children in Rutland, Leicestershire & Lincolnshire

At Young Innovators Club®, we believe children learn best when they’re solving real problems, working with their hands, and having fun. That’s why our clubs and workshops are built around problem-based learning, giving children the chance to explore coding, robotics, engineering, and digital creativity in exciting, age-appropriate ways.

Whether your child joins us for an after-school coding club, a STEM holiday workshop, or a school-based enrichment day, they’ll be learning through play, building confidence, and developing real-world skills that will last a lifetime.

What Makes Us Different?

We’re not just another kids club. We’re a team of qualified educators who design and deliver curriculum-aligned STEM experiences that are:

  • Hands-on and creative – Children build, code, and experiment with real tech

  • Problem-based – Every session starts with a challenge to solve

  • Inclusive and supportive – We welcome all learners, including those with SEN

  • Future-focused – Kids explore AI, robotics, game design, and more

  • Safe and professional – All staff are DBS-checked and safeguarding trained

Why Problem-Based Learning Works for Kids

Problem-based learning helps children:

  • Think independently and creatively

  • Build resilience through trial and error

  • Work together and communicate effectively

  • Apply what they learn in meaningful ways

Instead of following step-by-step instructions, children are encouraged to design their own solutions, test their ideas, and learn from what works (and what doesn’t). It’s a powerful way to build confidence and curiosity.

Examples of Our STEM Projects

Here are just a few of the exciting challenges children tackle in our clubs and workshops:

  • Design a Smart Home – Code sensors to automate doors, lights, and plant watering systems

  • Build a Flood Alarm – Use micro:bit and sensors to create a working alert system

  • Create a Storybook Adventure – Program robots to navigate a story-themed obstacle course

  • Make Your Own Game – Use Scratch or Python to build interactive games and animations

  • Explore AI & Machine Learning – Train simple models and build apps that solve real problems

Every project is designed to be fun, educational, and age-appropriate, with options for children aged 5 to 14.
